Book Tree Project (2021)
Book Tree Project is a permanent public artwork and neighbourhood-run library on Zeeburgereiland in Amsterdam. Developed in close collaboration with Roos van Os, the residential community of Woonwerkgebouw Nautilus and the wood-recycling initiative Stadshout, the project transforms a shared outdoor space into a collectively maintained bookshelf. Residents, visitors and passers-by can deposit and borrow books, extending the idea of a “little free library” into a durable spatial intervention co-owned by the community. The project grew out of longer-term research on commoning practices on Zeeburgereiland.
